Priscilla S. Lucero

“I will be so happy in Heaven with My Father, Son and Holy Spirit and My Mother Mary, Gasper and all my loved ones. Miss me a little, but know that I am happy and that life is eternal and someday we will all be together again.” Quote from a letter Priscilla left her nieces. Priscilla entered the Kingdom of Heaven on February 6, 2025, and leaves many loved ones to treasure the beautiful memories and inspiration she provided. Her deep abiding love for the Lord, her strong spirituality, and the immeasurable amount of love she had and showed for each family member were incomparable. Priscilla was born to Candido and Maria Eugenia (Gallegos) Salazar in Los Sauces, Colorado, the youngest of 11 siblings who survived infancy. She is survived by one brother, Lupe Salazar and former sister-in-law Hiroko Salazar, both of Northglenn, CO. Since she had no children of her own, she was especially close to nieces Mary Ann Goshert, Lori Naranjo and Christy Naranjo whom she considered to be like her own daughters. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends, each of whom she loved dearly and who absolutely cherished her in return. Priscilla was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gasper Lucero, in 1996, her parents and in-laws, and nine of her siblings and their spouses: Elvira (Adolfo) Marquez, Victoria (Melecio) Sandoval, Raymundo (Andrea) Salazar, Toni (Mike) Gallo, Ophelia (Joe) Espinoza, Eloisa (Ernesto) Naranjo, Eusebio (Addie) Salazar, Candido (Irene) Salazar, Jr, and Angelina (Pablo) Lopez. Several nieces and nephews, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, also predeceased her. After graduating from Sanford High School, she worked several years as a legal secretary for lawyers in Alamosa and Pueblo and for the Pueblo District Attorney’s office when Matt Kikel was DA. Later she served as the Clerk of Water Division 2 for the State of Colorado, a position she held for 20 years before retiring in June, 1989. A year before she passed, Priscilla moved to Villa Pueblo where she enjoyed new friends and a variety of activities. One cannot think of Priscilla without knowing of her deep love for the Lord and her Catholic religion. She was a devoted member of St. Leander Church since she and Gasper moved to Pueblo in the mid-1950s. For many years she volunteered in the church office, attended daily Mass, and served as a lector. Relatives and friends often asked Priscilla to offer prayers for themselves, others or special intentions, as we all considered her our “prayer angel” who had a “direct line” with her prayers. Priscilla and Gasper were blessed to have opportunities to travel and have good times with friends and other family members. After Gasper passed, she took classes in various areas, worked out and swam and spent as much time as possible with family and friends. In recent years, she looked forward to family get-togethers on Sundays – lunches followed by spirited games of Mexican Train. As much as our precious Priscilla will be missed, we know she led a beautiful and full life and leaves a rich legacy. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at St. Leander Church, 1402 E. 7th St., Pueblo, with Rosary at 9:30 AM. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery with a reception immediately after at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, 1145 S. Aspen Rd, Pueblo. Priscilla requested no viewing. Service will be livestreamed through Facebook and YouTube at Romero Family Funeral Home Pueblo. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can consider making donations in Priscilla’s name to St. Leander Church or the charity of their choice.
