Gloria "Auntie" Reeves

“Auntie” Gloria Reeves was born on March 2nd, 1952, in Syracuse, Kansas. She made her final transition after a long battle with cancer on August 5, 2024, when Gloria was only 72 years of age. Gloria was predeceased in death by her father Ignacio Archibeque, mother Ambrosia Archibeque, Ambrosia’s partner, Pat Balenzen, brothers Jose “Natch” Archibeque and Miguel Antonio Archibeque. Gloria is survived by her loving partner Robert Reeves, her sisters Lucy Moffit and Lena Haynes, her brother Ray Archibeque, and too many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Though she spent most of her life in Colorado Springs, Colorado she was raised and grew up in Holly and Lamar Colorado. In 1984 she met her husband Robert Reeves. She went on to have a long, wonderful relationship as they enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, where they were married by the king of rock and roll Elvis Presley, hitting the casinos of Cripple Creek and just being together. Auntie Gloria lived her life the best she knew, she was young at heart and enjoyed being up to date on the latest trends, fashion, and music, and liked going to the movies. She put her friends and family first but mostly her life revolved around all her nieces and nephews and she would travel back and forth across the country to see them. Gloria never missed a birthday, graduation, birth, wedding, anniversary, or any type of event, if you needed to know a special date in the family Gloria was the one to go to. Gloria liked the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite and her house became the place where all the family from across the state and country would come and get together. She enjoyed and looked forward to decorating her entire house she had to start in October to get her home ready each year for the family to come and celebrate with her. All her nieces and nephews with their families traveled from Kansas and Colorado to be at Auntie’s for Christmas. She always hid a Christmas Pickle in the tree and it was her nieces and nephews' job to find it and she had prizes. She was “Santa Claus” and had a gift for everyone even for surprise guests. Everyone was welcome at Aunties. Auntie had sleepovers at her house with each of the nieces and nephews. They always had a good time hanging out with her and getting caught up on what’s been going on. Auntie was the “cool” auntie who took us to the movies, out to eat, state fairs, territory days, camping, and just hanging out at her house laughing. Gloria was funny. Gloria loved listening to music and just enjoying life. Gloria was loved by friends and family and anyone who came to know her. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
