Donnie Ann Fuentes Pritchard

Donnie Ann Fuentes was born on October 17, 1961, and left us on August 16, 2023. Donnie was the eldest child of Elva Gonzales and Nick Fuentes, and the sister of Donald Fuentes. Donnie was a child that was filled with joy and laughter, she spent her early childhood days growing up at 1901 Albany in the family home of her grandparents, Selerina and Nicholas Fuentes. There were many fond memories made at Mineral Palace Park, there was time spent with cousins at Grandma’s on Sunday afternoons between church service times. She and her brother, Donald were very close, you didn’t mess with Donald, because you had to answer Donnie. They remained close throughout her life; she was his protector and advocate. Donnie is preceded in death by her stepfather Frank Gonzales, her daughter Amber Schmitt, and grandchild Taylor Pritchard, she survived by husband Rick Vigil, mother, Elva Gonzales, Father, Nick Fuentes, brother Donald Fuentes, grandchildren, Carlie, Sarah, Bella, Angel, Cruzita and great grandchildren Mallory and Sarah. her niece, Donna, and great grandniece Scarlett, and from the Fuentes and Romero families many cousins, aunts, and uncles. She left behind many friends whose lives were also touched by her laughter, joy, and love. Donnie attended Thatcher and Minnequa elementary, Freed and Corwin Middle School, Central High School, Pueblo Community College, and CSU Pueblo. Rick Vigil and Donnie started to date and began to build a home and life together; they shared the love of their grandchildren and both their families. She loved to cook and bake. Holidays were especially important to her, and she loved to share these special times with her family. Family was very important to Donnie. Rick and Donnie enjoyed fishing, and spending time in the mountains. A memorable place that they frequented was Monument Lake, where they fished, camped, and enjoyed the fellowship between families and friends. Donnie’s nature was to care for others, so unquestionably she became a CNA and her patients received tender care and love from her. She was dedicated to her education and determined to complete her bachelor’s degree in psychology and women’s studies at CSU Pueblo. She loved music and especially Pink Floyd and Stevie Ray Von. She was joyful, strong, determined, and fiercely loyal to family and friends. Donnie Ann Fuentes will be missed immensely.
