Betty Denean Bustamante

Betty Denean "Betso" Bustamante, 72 years, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day 2025 after spending the days before surrounded by loving family and enjoying one of the warmest winters in Pueblo history. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Bustamante, daughter Kristina Delsla, parents; Fermin and Eleanor Trujillo, her sisters; Edith, Dora, Nancy, Peggy and brothers; Robert, Sam, Ralph, Fernando, Victor, and George. She is survived by her sisters, Catherine and Corinne; and brother, Michael; as well as her foster mom, Delia Baca; her daughter, Jolene (Ernesto) Granillo; and grandchildren, Krystal (Charles) Bobian, Adrian Gomez (Toni), Joseph (Eunique) Garcia, Gabriel (Michelle) Granillo and Jayde (Marcus) Aguirre, Charizma and Tony; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and a very special companion her dog Baby. Betty was best known for her love of Mountain Dew, Marlboro Reds, and watching Netflix, SWAT, Denver Bronco Football games, reading her books and her annual Christmas lunch at Cracker Barrel. She loved to dance and spent a lot of time with her siblings and family. She also spent a lot of time praying for her family and friends everyday. Betty was the middle sister of 7 girls and had 7 brothers. Betty was a social worker in her professional career before surviving a career ending disability that was caused by a degenerative condition in her spine near her neck. She became paralyzed and had to work to regain her ability to walk, drive, write and care for herself. She was very independent and had many lingering disabilities but managed with a lot of help from family and medical help. She loved her career of caring for school aged children while performing home visits and she was also a social worker at the YWCA helping women who experienced abuse. She also was one of few women who worked at the CF&I. She attended CU Boulder and USC Pueblo, her education was focused on social work. Betty is a grandmother to 7 and great grandmother to 17 Lila, Kristina, Stormi, Cherokee, Gracie Mae, Everleigh, Jeremy, Adrian, Elijah, Bentley, Jayden, Austin, Devion, Zack, Danny, Jasper, Milo which she loved to support in their education and extracurricular activities and was a strong advocate to keeping them active and out of trouble. Betty was strong willed, loving, and instilled her values and character in her family with the focus to be a rock for family. She will be dearly missed by all who know her and carry on her memory.
