Robert "Papsy" Anthony Calkins
September 21, 2020
Robert Anthony ‘Papsy’ Calkins, 81, of Pueblo went to be with the Lord September 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Herrera; sons, Manuel Calkins and Michael Calkins; parents, Robert (Mary) Calkins; and 4 siblings. He is survived by his children, Ben Calkins, Roberta (Jaime) Calkins-Mendoza, Danny (Lynn) Calkins; grandchildren, William, Anthony, Danielle, Megan, Daniel Jr., Cameron and Chris; daughter-in-law, Rachael, numerous cousins and a large extended family and friends. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving 1959-1962. He worked for the Missouri Pacific (MoPac) & Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years. Bob loved many sports and could have been a sportscaster with his passion and knowledge of the game. He was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. He was a loving father of 5 children and volunteered countless hours as a coach and mentor to their teams as they played in nearly every sport. One of Bob’s greatest loves was spending time with his family and especially his 7 grandchildren. The grandchildren brought him so much happiness and love. He always had a story to share with them and they eagerly wanted to learn more about their beloved ‘Papsy’. Bob also had a great passion for singing. He proudly sang in church choirs and one would always find him singing at the Pueblo Villa and at Belmont Lodge (where he resided). Bob led a fulfilling and happy life, and always giving selflessly to others. Our beloved Bob “Papsy” will forever remain in our hearts; he and his beautiful voice will be deeply missed.
