Daniel Puente

Daniel Puente, 87, of Pueblo, born April 30, 1935, passed away on December 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Anne Puente; sons, Daniel Andrew Puente and Stephen Eric Puente; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Daniel graduated from Pueblo Central High School in 1954. He worked at the State Hospital. He joined the United States Army where he was stationed in Stuttgart Germany and worked in the postal unit. In 1957 after his service in the Army was complete, he started working for the United States Post Office. He worked as a mail carrier, then became a mail clerk and then as a window clerk where he received numerous awards. One award he was most proud of was the Postal Service Pride in Excellence for Outstanding Customer Service in 1972. He traveled to San Francisco, California to receive the award. Daniel was also recognized for Stellar Service in the Pueblo Chieftain. Daniel started his college education by working night shift, going to classes during the day while taking care of his wife and two babies. He graduated with a degree in Sociology in 1969 from Southern Colorado State College which is now USC Pueblo. He worked in finance when he retired from the Post Office in 1999. Daniel will be forever loved and missed by all those he leaves behind. The family would like to thank Parkview Medical Center and Villa Pueblo nurses and staff. God Bless them and keep them safe.
