Cupert Patrick Lira, Sr., 68 of Pueblo, Colorado passed away on July 25, 2019. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Velasquez; father, Cupertino Lira; stepfather, Hilbert Hijar and in-laws, Joe and Lizzie Bernal; Brother-in-law, Bobby Martinez, and nephew Angel Montiel. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen Lira; children, Cupert (Donna) Lira, Jr., Amanda Lira, and Brian Lira; grandchildren, Marcus, Jacob and David Lira; siblings, Lorraine (Jim) Coggins; his beloved dog, Chica; brothers and sisters-in-law, Josie Martinez, Jeanie and Lloyd Montiel, Lita and Carl Dazzio, Gloria and Charlie Martinez, Louise Bernal and Philip Norton, Joe and Karen Bernal and Sharon and Mike Casarez; god-sons, Lloyd Montiel Jr., Leo Benavidez and David Velasquez; god-daughter, Sheri; nieces and nephews Lisa, Tina, Phil, Lloyd, Roseanna, Antoinette, JJ, Jenna, Mario, Nikki, Audrey, Gregg, Sheri, Lisa, Carlos, Charlene, Conrad and all of their families, also many friends too numerous to mention from his 46 years at the mill, 16 years of fast-pitch softball and 15 years at the union hall. Cupert was an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed visiting Cripple Creek. He enjoyed fishing and camping and was extremely proud of his green thumb and gardening. The passion of his life was spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Chica. Cupert will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
