Pauline L. King

Pauline L. King of Pueblo, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, in Colorado City surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Ramon and Adeline Martinez of Gardner; sister, Rose Marie Garcia of Pueblo; in-laws, James and Olivama King of Walsenburg. She is survived by her children Angelique (Wayne) Espinoza of Colorado City, and Valentina King of Pueblo; granddaughters, Stevannah Espinoza and Alyxandria Espinoza of Colorado City; siblings Della Vigil of Sparks, Nevada and Lucille (Raymond) Martinez of Gardner; former spouse, James King Jr. of Pueblo; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Pauline loved to be outdoors watching the birds, the squirrels, and the deer. She, especially, loved hummingbirds and ladybugs. If you are "LUCKY" enough, you just might have one of her hand-painted lady bug rocks. Pauline also loved fishing, hunting, hiking, walking, crocheting, yard sales, and working in her yard. Just about anything outdoors, she loved it! She was definitely a Busy Bee. My Mom would often surprise me by showing up to my house and cooking dinner for me and my family when we got home from work and school. We would walk in after a long day to the savory smells of torta de huevo and her homemade, mouth watering tortillas. I would sometimes surprise my Mom by showing up for Mass on Sundays in Pueblo. I would quietly squeeze into the pew and sit next to her. She would give me a big hug and a loving smile only a mother could give. I wish I would have surprised her more often. Valentina and my Mom would often take relaxing, spur of the moment, day road trips. Mom, thinking of all she had to do for the day, would not want to go at first, but she was always happy and thankful she decided to go after all. More than anything, my Mom enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. When they were younger, they loved going with Grandma for McDonald's hamburgers. Grandma loved a "plain" McDonald's hamburger or two soft tacos from Taco Bell. The simple pleasures, but best when you ate them with the ones you love. Grandma always had little gifts for her girls. Whether it be for a holiday, or just "passing" the girls money sneakingly into their hand. "Here, buy yourself a little something." Some of her other loves were her little dogs over the years...Rascal, Queenie, and her beloved Autumn a.k.a. "Auti". These memories and so, so many more of our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend will be a part of our memories forever...and all that we shared with her will live endlessly in our hearts...So the next time you see a hummingbird or spot a lady bug, please smile and think of my Beautiful Mom. Rosary, 10:30 am, followed by Funeral Mass, 11:00 am, Monday, June 12, 2023, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gardner. Inurnment will follow, Gardner Cemetery.
