Mallory Jean Navarro

Mallory Jean Navarro (37) passed away peacefully from complications of her lung disease on September 25, 2023 surrounded by her family and the love of her life, Michael. Mallory was born in Thornton, CO on September 1, 1986 to Christopher T. Navarro and Francine J. Barbera. She spent her early years in Colorado Springs and later relocated with her family to Pueblo West where she completed middle and high school. She attended Pueblo Community College for a short period of time and then decided to enter the work force. As she was enjoying being a young adult Mallory was stricken at 24 years of age with Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension (IPH). Unfortunately, when discovered she had been suffering 2 to 3 years undiagnosed. Mallory was a fighter as she battled for 6 years with numerous procedures, constant oxygen and 24 hours of medication. By the grace of God she was blessed with a double lung transplant on December 28, 2016. She had been given a new lease on life for 7 years too enjoy her family and friends and welcome her nieces and nephews; these were some of her happiest moments. Mallory will live on through the love of her life, Michael Vunovich, her parents, Francine & Michael Barbera, Christopher Navarro, sisters Lauren (Aaron) Krakow, Olivia (Taylor) Hunt, bonus siblings Brian (Nicole) Barbera, Brianna (Tom) Keller and Michaela (Shawn) Gregory. Maternal grandparents, Donald and Viola Romero, Betty Barbera and paternal grandparents Hilbert and Judy Navarro. Her loving nieces and nephews, Christian, Aria, Lindon, Maison and Luke. In addition, her extensive Romero and Navarro families of numerous aunts & uncles, Donna Romero, Robert (Pamela) Romero, Selena Jacobsen, Ron Navarro, Leo (Julie) Navarro, Mona (Roy) Donaldson, Rosa (Jeff) Navarro-Colglazier, Anthony (Laura) Navarro, numerous cousins and special friend Isabella Fagerstedt. Her life-long best friends until the very end: Nicole Balceda, Ashley Ealy, Danielle Williams, Sapphire Padilla and Lindsey Timothy. Special thanks to the Pueblo West Fire and Rescue and Parkview Medical Center emergency staff. Lastly, the incredible care Mallory received at UCH Anschutz has been part of her journey for 13 years and had become her second family. Without them, Mallory’s journey would have been very different. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
