Jose Luis Escorcia

Jose Luis “Joe” Escorcia, 81, of Pueblo, left his beloved earthly family and walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus and into his eternal rest on December 11,2022. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Tito (Susan), Julie, Victor, Loretta (Ray); grandchildren, Avril, Keanu, Brandon (Tezla), Aliex (Dominique), Nikko(Liza), Nikiya (Brenden) and Steven (Maya); great grandchildren, Benjamin, D’Angelo, Evie, Amari, Mila, Khloe, Kendell, Tieni, Sofia, Aliyah and Simi; godchildren, Raquel Martinez and Frank Padilla Jr.; brother-in-law, John; sisters-in-law, Tillie and Josie; numerous nieces and nephews to include, Carlos (Mel) Garcia, Juanita Sierra and Mary Tafoya. Preceded by his parents, Francisco and Rosa (Guillien) Escorcia; siblings, Vilma Garcia and Uriel Escorcia; Niece Carolina Garcia; in-laws, Modesto and Elena Gonzales; sisters-in-law, Mollie, Maria and Delia; brothers-in-law, Valentine and Zeke Gonzales; as well as many other extended family and friends. Joe was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and served as a combat soldier during the Vietnam war. Jose Luis “Joe” Escorcia. Joe lived a good successful life and accomplished many things. He often stated that above all, His greatest accomplishment was his family. He stated he was blessed with a good biological family, his adopted family (his wife’s family), his beautiful wife Gloria, successful children, talented grandchildren, and his wonderful great grandchildren. As a young man, Joe came to the US, (his wonderful, adopted country), to study. While in college, he enlisted in the United States Army. After Basic Training and before going to combat in Viet Nam, he was sent to Fort Carson in Colorado. On his first trip to Pueblo, he met the “Love of his life”, the most beautiful girl in Pueblo, Gloria. After his service in Vietnam, for which he received the Combat Infantry Badge as well as many other medals, he returned to Pueblo, married Gloria and went to work at the CF&I. After the Basic Oxygen Furnace closed, he returned to college. He remained on the Dean’s list during the duration of his attendance, and he graduated from both PCC and PPCC. While in college he was employed by Digital Corporation and during that time, as a class project, he programed a robot to play TIC TAC TOE. The robot traveled both through the US and worldwide and was eventually retired undefeated. The robot always won. Joe retired as a computer engineer after writing many computer programs. He also trained the other engineers to implement and run these programs. Joe was a licensed pilot, a talented musician and a 3rd Degree Marshal Arts expert and instructor. He was also a gifted calligraphist. He always said he was blessed to come Pueblo from clear across the world and find all the things that he loved and were the best things in life. He was very happy to have found Praise Church. He loved to listen and learn from our wonderful pastors and to meet many people whom he considered friends. He always felt that he was blessed to meet a man whom he equaled to Billy Graham, his Pastor, Mentor and Friend, Reverend Bobby Wilson. Joe had the opportunity to reconcile himself to his God, himself, and his family. His family was his pride and joy and he prayed for them daily, Thank you, Lord for Joe Luis Escorcia, and for blessing us with his love.
