John Primo Montoya

John Primo Montoya, 52 of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on February 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, John Montoya; grandparents, Juan and Connie Chacon, and David and Christina Montoya; uncles, Alonzo Chacon and Oris Trujillo; special aunt, Evelyn Canter; and numerous family members. He is survived by his children, Jacob Montoya, Anber Montoya and Maria Montoya; mother, Tonie Abraham; Sister, Jo-Anna (Jason) Clark; niece and nephew, Britney Martinez and Lawrence Martinez; great niece, Athena; special cousins, Pauline Razo and Dawn Palmer, from Richmond, VA; beloved dog, Chanlor; best friend, Andy Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. John was very generous, and he had a big heart. He would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and camping in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. He also enjoyed visiting the Atlantic Ocean whenever he had the chance. He especially enjoyed taking Chanlor to Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, VA and City Park Dog Park in Pueblo, CO. John enjoyed going on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railway from Antonito, CO. to Chama, N.M. John took so many beautiful fall pictures, to include going to visit uncle Leroy in Alamosa, CO. Another outing that John enjoyed was going to the Royal Gorge Grand Canon in Canon City, CO. Our day trip ended by taking an exhilarating ride on the Zip Line across the Royal Gorge Canon. He was a huge fan of rock music and loved to attend concerts with his children. John graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, VA and studied at Blue Ridge Community College in VA. John earned his bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology at East Tennessee State University in 1994. While working at American Safety Razor Company in Verona, VA as a Quality Assurance Specialist, John would travel to China, Japan and Mexico to ensure the quality of their products. John’s last place of employment was Walmart in Pueblo, CO. John Primo Montoya will forever be loved and missed by all those he leaves behind, especially his dog and his three children. John’s legacy was “I’ve been good, I’ve been bad, and I’ve been the best in between; I have been a good dad”.
