David "Dabi" Guerrero

David “Dabi” Luis Guerrero (86), of Pueblo, CO., passed away peacefully with the sunrise on the morning of December 1st, 2023, with family lovingly at his side. Born on July 19th, 1937, to Fransisco and Polin Guerrero, in Texas, he was one of five siblings. David grew up knowing the meaning of hard work, not only because he was the oldest and helped with his younger siblings, but also because he was not afforded the luxury of a high school education but instead earned an income picking cotton in the fields, to contribute to his family. David met his wife Jennie when they were 18 and started a life together. David had bigger dreams for his life, he held a passion for music, and the desire to make an impact on the lives of others. He was a self-taught musician and singer, which he used to earn an income, so he could achieve his many goals. David had put together Los Trio Azteca, and found that playing his guitar and singing was fulfilling and found the happiness that he brought to others, his singing career flourished and received high recognition, He returned to school to obtain a GED, knowing that singing was not enough. He then attended Denver University and the University of Southern Colorado, to pursue a degree in Social Work. He did all this well supporting his wife and 5 children. In his career he worked for Saint Mary Corwin, Parkview, and Spanish Peaks. Eventually, encouraging him to obtain his master’s degree in social work. He also was an active member in the church as a eucharistic minister. He was a beacon of light and touched the lives of many not only through his line of work but also the music he wrote and played. David Found happiness in baseball and in his younger life, and played often and was a talented shortstop, it was not a dream that he could pursue, but he encouraged his boys to play and enjoy baseball. He also found joy in fishing and spent many trips with his children. David also found happiness in traveling and enjoyed road trip vacations with his family. David was a stubborn independent man until the end insisting that he did not need anyone to care for him. But decided that his time and this Earth was coming to a close, and the fight that needed to be fought was placed in the hands of his Lord. David is preceded in death by his parents Fransico and Polin, His wife Jennie, his son Valentino, his sister Liz, and his dear friend Mary Jane. He is survived by his children Richard (Betty) Guerrero, Victoria (Phillip) Pechek, Tom (Gina) Guerrero, Mark (Danette) Guerrero, as well as nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren and many family and friends. David will be missed my many.
