Beverly Jean Barra

Beverly “Bev” Weitzel Barra, 58, of Pueblo, CO, passed away peacefully at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice on July 4, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bev was born and raised in St. Cloud, MN where she graduated from Technical High School. She moved to Colorado soon thereafter, where she met the love of her life, Richard Barra, who fondly referred to her as his “Bride” for the 37 years she was married to him. Bev was a Sales Director for Mary Kay and had a jewelry business, Bev’s Baubles and Bling. She also worked at the dental office of Dr. Kyle Schulz and was a partner with her husband Richard in several businesses. In every aspect of her work and life, Bev adored the people she came in contact with. She had such a genuine sweetness, beautiful spirit and positive outlook on life. Whenever Bev walked into a room, she would light it up with her amazing smile, genuine warmth and engaging personality. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jo Weitzel and her father-in-law, Anthony Barra. Besides her husband Richard, Bev is survived by her sisters, Pat (Frank) Banker (Lakewood, CO), Barb (John) Brown (Mishawaka, IN), and Nancy (Steven) Burry (Kansas City, MO); in-laws, nieces, nephews and numerous extended family and friends. Bev loved her “girl-time” with family/friends, good conversation with all she came in contact with, doing thoughtful things for others, making people feel good about themselves, spending precious time with loved ones, extending “pink hugs” to all, shopping, and chocolate. Bev will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, July 12th (which would have been Bev’s 59th birthday) at the Pueblo Country Club, Spanish Peaks Room, 3200 8th Avenue, Pueblo, CO from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Bev’s husband and family are asking guests to please bring a favorite photo and/or handwritten or typed note about how Bev touched their life or a favorite story about Bev. These will be placed into a Memory Book for the family to cherish in the difficult days ahead. Those unable to attend, are invited to mail memories/photos to P.O. Box 8173, Pueblo, CO 81008.
