Alexander F. Lucero

Alexander F. Lucero, 77, of Pueblo passed away at his home with his family by his side on February 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha Lucero; in-laws, John and Josephine Cordova; brothers-in-law, Emilio and Jimmy Cordova, Larry Gonzales and Frank Palacio; and numerous other family members. He is survived by his wife of 55 1/2 years, Rose Marie (Cordova) Lucero; daughters, Dawn (Michael) Ramirez and Stacie (Jerode) Padilla; grandchildren, Lexi and Ripp Ramirez, Julian, Tristen Alexander and Tanner John Padilla; brothers Steve (Priscilla) Lucero, Ted (Arlene) Lucero, Fred (Theresa) Lucero; brother and sisters-in-law, Betty (Alby) Sanchez, Agnes (John) Gomez, John (Betty) Cordova, Bob (Zulema) Cordova, Anita Gonzales, and Shirley Palacio; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Alex was born in Del Norte, Colorado on March 27, 1945. He graduated from Sierra Grande High School class of 1963. He remained close to his classmates throughout his life. He received his Associate of Arts Degree from Trinidad Junior College where he met the love of his life, Rose Marie Cordova, they married on June 17, 1967, and remained together for 55 1/2 years. Alex graduated from Adams State University in 1968 where he received his Bachelor's of Science in Business/Education. Alex served in the United States Army for 3 years one being in Vietnam. After being discharged he began his career with the United States Department of Agricultural where he worked for 33 years. Alex worked in Longmont, Colorado for 13 years. While in Longmont he was very involved with Saint John's the Baptist Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council, taught catechism, helped build the Samaritan House along with many other activities. His career took him to Pueblo, Colorado where he lived the next 40 years of his life. After a very successful career he retired as the District Director of Southeast Colorado. Upon his retirement he fostered his love for cars and nature. Alex did not build cars or show cars he just bought new ones constantly. On any given day of the week, you could find him on the car lot. If he wasn’t at the car lot, he would be watching his grandchildren play sports, traveling to various places to spend time with his grandchildren or driving to his condo in Chuchara, Colorado. Alex had a very strong relationship with the Lord. Before his illness he faithfully attended daily Mass at Holy Family Parish where he was an usher, eucharistic minister, and read the liturgy of the Lord. Alex was a member of the Eagles, the VFW, NARF and Knights of Columbus. Alex was a well-traveled man having traveled the United States and several countries. More than anything he loved his family and was the happiest when he was spending time with them. Alex will be forever loved and deeply missed by those he leaves behind.
