Viola Vanbuskirk Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Viola VanBuskirk, 75, passed away on January 23, 2022. Born to Henry and Tomasita Martinez on August 26, 1946, in Crowley County. She then moved to Pueblo, Colorado where she began to raise a family. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Tomasita Martinez; the father of her children; Perry Montoya Jr., second husband; Craig VanBuskirk, sisters; Martha Perea and Helen Santistevan, son; James Lee Montoya, and grandson; Justin Lee Martinez. Over the past few years, she lost her dogs, Baby, Toby, and Diamond. Vi is survived by her brother; Dan (Bernice) Martinez, sons; Perry (Christine) Montoya III, Kelly (Betsy) Montoya, Jason (Linette) Montoya, and Chad Montoya, all of Pueblo, Colorado. Also survived by 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Vi had a very strong faith in the Jehovah. She was baptized to the Jehovah Kingdom on October 1,1982 and attended her zoom meets every Sunday and Wednesday. In between her studies, she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and cooking. Her brothers and sisters from the Congregation loved visiting with her. They knew when she entered the room because of her hats, flowers, and her friendly hello’s. When not studying, Vi loved to teach her grandkids and nieces how to bake and make homemade tortillas. She enjoyed shopping trips to Hobby Lobby and having lunch at Passkey. Vi also enjoyed listening to music and being outdoors. More than anything, she loved attending family celebrations. She definitely was the event planner. Entering any room with her beautiful smile, costume jewelry, hats, and a flower in her hair, she always made her grand entrance. She will be forever loved and deeply missed by all those she leaves behind. “Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.
