    Mona Jean Gonzales

    Mona Jean Gonzales, 77, of Pueblo, passed peacefully at the family home and began her eternal life with the Lord on January 16, 2022. Mona was preceded in death by her son, Simon Gonzales; grandchildren, Rebecca, Katherine, Leslie and Baby William; parents, Rudolph and Lola Lovato, sister, Irene Montoya, in-laws, Lewis and Lucy Gonzales. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, G. Leroy Gonzales; daughters, Anastacia (Steve), Jessica, Selena (Denny) and Lachae Gonzales; grandchildren, Lisa (John) Hettich, Lindsay Ornelas, David Ornelas, Michael (Asialynn) Sanchez, Abrahm (Ashleylynn) Sanchez, Alyssa Sanchez and Natasha Gonzales; great grandchildren, Dazsha, Damaen, Aunalea, Dominic and Hunee Ornelas, Eric, Esperanza, Eulalio (Leo), Luke, Elijah, and Aiden Sanchez, Natalia and Emiliano Hettich, Antonio Maes, and Xaviour Vasquez. Mona was born December 11, 1944 in Walsenburg, CO and raised in Pueblo where she lived for the rest of her life. She was very active in her Catholic faith, teaching catechism, furthering her spiritual education, and being in service to her church. She enjoyed bowling on a league as a young adult, selling Avon, lunch outings with her mother, being a cub scout den mother, attending her children's athletic events and school functions. She also enjoyed accompanying her husband to Golf Tournaments in Las Vegas. She was an avid reader and instilled a love of reading in her children, making frequent visits to the local library. She supported and encouraged her children's educational endeavors and accomplishments. Mona was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was lovingly known as “Nana Sunshine”. She loved all her family and enjoyed attending and hosting family gatherings for holidays and celebrations. She was always there to lend a hand, helping out wherever she could. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Service, 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 10, 2022, St. Pius X Catholic Church followed by Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.
