    Jose Ramon Benavidez

    Jose Ramon Benavidez, 80 of Pueblo, passed away on December 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by parents, Jesus and Cleofas Benavidez, grandson Baby Angel, siblings, Herminio, Phil, Rudy, Matias, Robert, Dora, Angie, and Ofelia, sons-in-law, Michael Baca and John Sanchez; and numerous other family. He is survived by his wife Salome “Ruth” Ramitos; children Isabel Baca (Loren Archuleta), David Benavidez, Peggy Benavidez and Margaret Benavidez (Mark Whatley); grandchildren, Jason, Janelle (Gilroy Jr.), Anthony, Christopher (Justine), David (Kahla), Cierra (Jordan), Cheyenne, and Nico; great-grandchildren, Adriano, Anthony, Trystan, Ryleigh, Aubri, Jordan, Orlando, Phoenix, Vayda, Jayven, Gilroy III, Leon, Jream, Christopher Jr., and David, siblings, Brigido (Emily) Benavidez, Dimas (Rose) Benavidez, and Viola Benavidez, special nephews; Phil Benavidez & Robbie Vasquez. Jose Ramon always spoke fondly of his “sisters” Rita, Carolina, Delicia and Lucaria, who he grew up with in New Mexico and his brother in Christ, Dr. Bryan Hynes who took special care of Jose for many years as his medical provider and treated him like family. He is also survived by; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends; and his dog Ben-Oreo. Jose Ramon enjoyed being in his yard. He could often be found working in his garden or soaking up the sun in his front yard. He loved to bowl and was part of the Sunset Bowling League for over 30 years. He loved playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing and exercising. He enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and could be found doing so when he would take his wife to Cripple Creek on Sundays. More than anything he loved spending time with his wife and enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, and great ​grandchildren. He will be forever loved and missed by those left behind to cherish his memory. Memorial Service, 10:00 am, Monday, January 17, 2022, Romero Family Funeral Home.
