Henry “HANK” W. Johnston, 76, of Pueblo, CO passed away on November 28, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice Johnston, brother Kenneth Johnston, wife Carol Rae Johnston, son Kelly Broska, Daughter Gaylene Purcell, grandchildren Tejay Broska, Dallas Hughes, Wayne Broska, and Leonard Espinoza (Brandy Gray), longtime friend “Chubby”, Connie Espinoza (mother of 6 of his kids whom he proudly accepted as his own). He is survived by his sister Mary, Brother in Law Bud and their 2 children, his children Ken (Loretta) Espinoza, Lisa Espinoza, Lori Espinoza, Mike (Monica) Espinoza, Jess Espinoza, Spooks Espinoza, Brandi Broska, special friend, Mary Hart, family friends Guy Cassavant and Curt Yeager. Hank was a proud Grandpa of 23 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. For this he was also known as “Gramps”. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless others considered like family. Hank was born in Oklahoma and was proud of his Sooner background before moving to Pueblo. He attended East High School and joined the Army soon after, where he was stationed in Alaska before spending the rest of his life in Pueblo. “Cranky Hank” retired from the Steel Mill in the late 90’s. After Retiring, he received a degree in Auto Body work from PCC and bragged about graduating the same year as his grandson JW in 2000. He and Carol then started Hank’s Handyman Service. Gramps loved the outdoors, taking his kids and grandkids on camping/road trips. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, bowling, and shooting pool. Hardly anyone knew more sports stats than the “Old Man” and he was a well-known supporter of the Broncos and Rockies. His greatest passion was spending time socializing with all his numerous friends and family. He loved creating quality time moments by taking friends and family out to share a meal. He would take advantage of these moments to share his stories and provide humorous quips. He was the proud owner of the Lakeview Bar and was the Patriarch of the “Lakeview Family” where he maintained and established solid friendships and the love of many.He is known for being ornery and stubborn. Regardless, he had a Heart of Gold and had a way to make you earn his respect. Due to COVID there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later time when things settle, and we can all comfortably get together. In the meantime, please share your favorite memories with us.
