Duane Victor Greenfield, 86, of Pueblo went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurel Jan Kirchoff. They were united in Holy Matrimony on March 4, 1956 and spent 61 blessed years together. He is also preceded by his parents, Edwin and Della Greenfield; brother, Keith Greenfield; and sisters, Pamela Nelson and Ardys Johnson. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Greenfield, Victoria Gadoua and Laura Greenfield; grandchildren, Joshua Gadoua, Rebecca Blevins, Jessica Greenfield, Michael Castillo and Amanda Castillo; great grandchildren, Summer and Gabrielle Gadoua and Santino, Linaya and Victor Martinez; brothers, Morris (Sue) and Roxy (Deb) Greenfield; sisters, Lois Weldon and Maureen “Kay” (Dr. James) Knott. Duane was born on October 31, 1933 in Kamrar, Iowa. Raised on a farm, he attended a country school and graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City, Iowa, Class of 1952. He joined the Army and served for several months in the Korean War before receiving an honorable discharge and returning home to care for his dying father and his remaining family. He then attended Junior College at Webster City Community College and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. After graduation he joined the Army Corp. of Engineers which took him to several places in Iowa, South Dakota and the NORAD facility in Colorado Springs where he ended his Army career. He and Laurel along with their children then moved to Arvada, Colorado where they bought their first house and he worked as an engineer for Jefferson County. In 1965 he became the Traffic Engineer for the City of Aurora and remained with them until 1982. A move in 1983 took them to Las Cruces, New Mexico where Duane became a Public Works Director. They remained there until 1989 when he became the Deputy City Manager in Barstowe, California. Duane retired in 1996 at the age of 63 but did not stop working. He worked as a substitute teacher in Barstowe the remainder of 1996 until another move back to Colorado this time settling in Pueblo West. There he substitute taught for both Pueblo, District 60, and Pueblo West, District 70, 1997-2013. He finally retired for good on his 80th birthday. Duane was a lifelong member of the New Testament Christian Church and attended faithfully in all the communities he lived in, serving as an Elder in the last four churches he attended. Northside Christian Church in Pueblo was his final home church. He attended from 1997 until his death and he served not only as an Elder but also as Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of several clubs over the years. In Arvada he was part of the Kiwanis Club and belonged to the Rotary Club in both Barstowe, California and Pueblo West, Colorado where he was still active upon his passing. Duane loved his family more than anything and found his fondest joy in being with them. He will be forever loved and always missed by all those he leaves behind.
